At Narratron, your privacy and creative control are paramount. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, process, and safeguard your personal information when you use our interactive live canvas, theater hosting tools, and documentation.

1. Information We Collect

A. Account & Authentication Information

  • Account Registration: When creating an account, we collect your chosen username, email address, and an encrypted hash of your password. We never store plaintext passwords.
  • Session Tokens: We use secure session cookies and tokens to authenticate your browser session and verify theater permissions.

B. User Content & Creative Assets

  • Uploaded Assets: Custom reference images, custom adventure configurations (theater.yaml), lore documents, and character notes uploaded to your theaters.
  • Story Inputs & Prompts: Prompts, scene directions, chat messages, and live suggestions submitted to the narrator.

C. Live Interaction & Canvas Data

  • Session Activity: Theater view counters, join requests, active baton holders, and real-time doodle coordinates necessary to synchronize state between canvas viewers.
  • Clip & Microphone Recording:
  • Local Canvas Clips: When you export canvas clips (up to 30 seconds), video synthesis and audio mixing are executed entirely locally in your browser.
  • Microphone Access: Microphone audio is an explicit, revocable permission requested only when you choose to include creator commentary in your export. Microphone audio is neve stored on Narratron servers.

D. Technical & Diagnostic Information

  • Standard server logs including IP address, browser type, referring URL, and timestamps, used solely for security, rate-limiting, and error diagnostics.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Render and synchronize interactive storytelling sessions across canvas participants in real time.
  • Relay prompts to generative AI services to return narrative continuations, character speech, and atmospheric illustrations.
  • Manage virtual generation credit balances and authenticate theater hosts.
  • Diagnose connectivity anomalies, prevent abuse, and safeguard server operations.

3. Third-Party Services & AI Providers

To deliver rich storytelling experiences, Narratron interfaces with select third-party service providers:

  • Generative AI Providers: When generating story text, character voice lines, or scene art, prompts and contextual narrative snippets are processed by authorized AI providers (e.g. Google Gemini, ElevenLabs, or local fallback models). Third party providers will do as they please with it, but we do not identify you to them or share your account metadata.
  • External Video Draft Handoffs: If you link a third-party social account (such as TikTok), Narratron uses direct file streaming solely to deliver a draft clip to your creator inbox. Narratron never posts content directly to your public feed.

4. Data Storage & Security

  • Encryption: Passwords are saved with industry-standard cryptographic hashing. Network communications use Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS).
  • Data Retention: Theaters, uploaded reference assets, and canvas notes persist until deleted by the theater owner or subject to automated cleanup for temporary trial theaters.
  • Local Storage: We utilize your browser's localStorage to retain client preferences (such as audio volume, tool layout, and local server run identifiers).

5. Your Rights & Data Choices

  • Access & Correction: You may review and update your account details directly from your user profile.
  • Account & Theater Deletion: You may request complete deletion of your account and associated theater data by contacting the platform administrators.
  • Revoking Permissions: You can revoke microphone and media capture permissions at any time via your browser's permission settings.

6. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect evolving platform capabilities or regulatory requirements. Material updates will be indicated by the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document.
